Video Details & Metadata

Creating Effective Titles

Title Best Practices

  • Length: 60-70 characters optimal (100 max)
  • Front-Load Keywords: Important words first
  • Be Descriptive: Clearly state what video is about
  • Avoid Clickbait: Misleading titles hurt engagement
  • Use Numbers: "5 Tips" performs better than "Several Tips"
  • Include Keywords: Help with search discovery

Title Examples

✅ Good Titles:

  • "How to Bake Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookies in 30 Minutes"
  • "iPhone 15 Pro Review: 7 Days of Real-World Testing"
  • "Beginner Guitar Lesson 1: Your First Chords"

❌ Poor Titles:

  • "YOU WON'T BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENED!!!" (excessive caps, clickbait)
  • "Video" (non-descriptive)
  • "Part 37" (no context for new viewers)

Writing Compelling Descriptions

Description Structure

  1. First 2-3 Lines (Critical) Most important info visible before "Show More" - include hook and key details
  2. Middle Section Expanded explanation, timestamps, context, and additional information
  3. Links Section Social media, website, related videos, affiliate links
  4. Credits & Tags Music credits, collaborator tags, equipment used

Description Guidelines

  • Length: 150-300 words ideal, 5,000 character limit
  • Keywords: Include relevant search terms naturally
  • Timestamps: Add for videos longer than 10 minutes
  • Call-to-Action: Encourage likes, comments, subscriptions
  • Links: Max 15 clickable links
  • Hashtags: 3-5 relevant hashtags

Timestamps Format

Add chapter timestamps for better navigation:

0:00 Introduction
1:23 What You'll Need
3:45 Step 1: Preparation
7:12 Step 2: Main Process
12:30 Step 3: Finishing Touches
15:00 Final Results

Note: First timestamp must be 0:00 for chapters to work

How to Choose Tags

  • Specific Tags: Exact topic (e.g., "chocolate chip cookie recipe")
  • Broad Tags: General category (e.g., "baking", "desserts")
  • Branded Tags: Your channel or series name

Tag Limits & Best Practices

  • Number of Tags: 5-15 tags recommended, 500 characters max
  • Relevance: Only use tags that accurately describe content
  • Mix Specificity: Combine narrow and broad tags
  • Avoid Tag Stuffing: Don't use excessive or irrelevant tags
  • Check Competitors: See what successful similar videos use
